Presented by RONA and Aubainerie, and powered by Rouge FM, the Véro & Louis Foundation's famous Différent comme toi fundraising campaign is back for an 8th year.

On sale today, via the Foundation's online shop and in Aubainerie stores for three models, the public is invited to buy a Différent comme toi shirt and proudly wear the message of difference, just a few days before World Autism Awareness Day (April 2) and World Autism Month (April).

THE IMPACT OF YOUR DONATIONS

Thanks to the generosity of Quebecers, the first seven editions of the campaign raised a net amount of nearly $2.7 million. The sums raised by the Foundation's various fundraising campaigns and by donations received throughout the year have had a tangible impact on the quality of life and well-being of adults with autism and their families, as they have helped to finance :

- the construction of Maisons Véro & Louis across Quebec. 
Based on the concept of the 1st Maison Véro & Louis to be built in Varennes in 2021, the future homes will accommodate 16 to 20 residents living in an environment fully adapted to their needs. Infrastructure will be provided for the Centre d'activités éducatives et socioprofessionnelles (CAESP), which will take in other autistic adults living in their family environment as well as the residents.
Two new home projects will soon be taking shape, in Victoriaville in the Mauricie-Centre-du-Québec region and in St-Jérôme in the Laurentians. Added to this is the interest and enthusiasm of the entire community in other regions of Quebec, with whom the Foundation is building relationships as its projects progress.

- the creation of a long-term fund
This reserve fund will be used to deal with unforeseen circumstances and ensure the long-term future of Maisons Véro & Louis. It will then be replenished on an ongoing basis from the Foundation's annual income.

-research projects
Les Maisons Véro & Louis is a genuine social innovation project that relies on research to validate and optimise its model on an ongoing basis. Our current and future research projects will help ensure the relevance of our homes, the quality standards of our services and improve the quality of life of autistic adults and their families.

The Véro & Louis Foundation played a very important role in her discovery of her autism diagnosis: 

« It was in 2018, thanks to the Différent comme toi t-shirt that I made my encounter at the age of 38. When I bought this T-shirt, I had no idea that my life would change in such an exceptional way. Browsing the Foundation's website had led me to wonder what the criteria for an autistic woman were, and when I came across this list, every word resonated with me. A few months later, I finally had my diagnosis: I was an autistic woman. »

In her most recent book, Femme caméléon, published by KO Éditions, Mélissa Perron recounts her long journey into the depths: from her childhood lived as ‘in an aquarium dropped into the sea’ to her ascent to the surface as an adult, when she discovered that her difference had a name.

A donation of $5 will be made to the Foundation for each book purchased on the KO Éditions website, and $1 for each book sold in bookshops.
